Caitlin is a Clinical Psychologist who has also earned her PhD in Philosophy (Psychology). She works with clients across the lifespan in a wide range of contexts. Caitlin will gladly review any referral to determine if able to provide a suitable service. ​

Her areas of interest include working with Adults experiencing Anxiety (generalised, social and OCD presentations) and Depression; PTSD with a focus on Polyvagal Theory, Window of Tolerance and the Psychosomatic Relationship; Grief and Trauma; Perinatal Mental Health; Working with Neurodiversity (primarily in the Autism and ADHD spaces) in a neurodiverse affirming manner that recognises the strengths and differences of neurodiverse brain styles; providing queer and gender affirming therapy to LGBTQ+ individuals, Risk Management; Acute and Chronic health problems, Interpersonal Communication and Relationship Counselling (utilising her training Gottman Relationship Therapy). She uses an evidence based approach, combining a number of different therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, ACT, DBT, CPT and Schema Therapy. Caitlin has a particular interest in facilitating structured CBT treatment plans for cognitive flexibility and behavioural change.

She works predominantly with Medicare GP Mental Health Treatment Plan referrals, NDIS self- and plan-managed, DVA, or self-referred. Other non-listed referral streams are welcome to inquire.

General Psychologist

REGINA SAWYER

 Regina is a Registered Psychologist with 10 years’ experience working in the public mental health sector. She is experienced in working with adults and adolescents who present with Anxiety, Depression, Addiction, Eating Disorders, Grief, Stress and Trauma (PTSD). She has an ANZAED Eating Disorder Credential and is able to offer services under a Medicare Eating Disorders Treatment Plan (up to 40 sessions per year). She is trained to provide a range of Parenting Skills programs, in both group and individual formats, that include Circle of Security and Parent Effectiveness Training. Regina also runs workplace courses on a range of topics centered on wellbeing, communication skills training and a ‘Building Resilience’ course with a focus on stress management. 

 

She tailors her therapeutic approach to client needs, with the interventions utilised evidence based and grounded in the theories of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma Informed Care. Regina currently provides services under Medicare, Victorian Ambulance Counselling Unit (VACU), WorkCover, NDIS and private referral.

 

​Regina completes a longer initial consult of 80mins prior to commencing 50min ongoing consults. The initial consult is billed at a higher rate with the standard Medicare rebate of $93.35 for those with a GP MHTP.

Ellen is a Registered Psychologist who has completed her Masters of Clinical Psychology (Child Specialisation) at the University of Melbourne and she is currently enrolled in the Clinical Registrar Program. Ellen has experience working across the lifespan, particularly in working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a variety of Public and Private settings. She has an interest in working with young people to address a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, behavioural difficulties, learning difficulties and working on building emotion regulation skills and resilience. She also has an interest in working with Autistic young people utilising a neurodiversity affirming approach.

Ellen utilises a client centred approach as she believes that developing strong rapport and trusting, supportive and collaborative relationships with young people forms the basis for best outcomes. She employs a range of evidenced based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness based techniques. Ellen also conducts cognitive and educational assessments in order to better understand a child’s unique profile of skills and abilities that will then inform recommendations for parents and school staff or as part of more extended assessments. Ellen believes in working in collaboration with a child’s family, schools, and other health professionals where appropriate so that there is a shared understanding of the young person and their unique needs which will assist in promoting positive outcomes across these settings.

Michelle is a registered psychotherapist, experienced EMDR practitioner, relationship counsellor, art therapist & DBT practitioner with over 22 years’ experience working in the mental health sector. She practices with PACFA and EMDRAA membership.​ 

 

Michelle also provides Relationship Therapy to clients, utilising Level 1 training in Gottman Relationship Therapy. She applies the Gottman therapeutic modality, including the Gottman Relationship Check-up. Michelle assists couples to disarm conflict with effective communication; increase intimacy, respect & empathy, through supporting a heightened sense understanding. For individual work, Michelle uses a client centred approach, exploring personal meaning and facilitating behavioural change using psychotherapeutic interventions and a diverse range of evidence-based techniques. Michelle also utilises EMDR for desensitising trauma memories & related symptoms and tools for personal understanding, self-soothing, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation for an integrated approach to individual's needs. Coupled with personal narrative work and creative expression, Michelle aims to create deeper personal understanding, a sense of belonging, and develop an improved sense of connection to others and the self. Michelle also offers Perinatal Mental Health counselling and birth trauma work. She is also influenced by Internal Family Systems (IFS) foundations for internal narrative work to support behavioural change and trauma issues. Matthew curry

Matt is a provisional psychologist currently advancing his studies in his Masters of Clinical Psychology, with a special interesting in working in the child psychology race with children aged 4-12yrs. With over a decade of experience as a primary school teacher in Torquay and having recently served as an Assistant Principal in Geelong, Matt brings a deep understanding of educational environments into his psychology practice. He also holds a Master’s of Applied Positive Psychology from Melbourne University, which informs his strengths-based approach to therapy.

  

Matt works primarily with children aged 4 to 12, helping them overcome a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, behavioural and learning difficulties. He is particularly passionate about assisting young people in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and coping strategies. In addition, Matt takes a neurodiversity-affirming approach in his work with Neuro Diverse children, celebrating their unique strengths and perspectives.

 

With experience in psychometric and educational assessments, Matt is adept at establishing strong therapeutic relationships, conducting comprehensive evaluations, and creating tailored therapy plans that meet the individual needs of each child. His client-centered approach emphasises the importance of trust, rapport, and collaboration as the foundation for effective therapy.

 

In his practice, Matt draws on a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness. He is also highly skilled in working within multi-disciplinary teams and has the ability to work autonomously in the community, ensuring comprehensive care for his clients.

A Warm welcome to Emma to Surf Coast Mind Body Health, practicing as a psychotherapist. Emma is an Adolescent Counsellor with a Masters of Counselling, in addition to being a registered Provisional Psychologist currently completing her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Charles Sturt University.

 

She works with clients across the lifespan with various presentations, with a special interest in working within the adolescent space. Having worked as an educator and counsellor in secondary schools for 17 years, Emma is passionate about working with this age group to support mental health and wellbeing through evidence-based intervention and prevention work.

 

Emma has an interest in working with young people to address challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress and trauma (PTSD), in addition to providing support across various presentations through psychoeducation that aims to inform improved overall mental health and wellbeing in her client group. 

 

Emma integrates a variety of approaches from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness techniques. Emma also offers parenting programs to provide support raising teens, such as the Tuning In To Teens program.

Greg joins SCMBH as a provisional psychologist completing his final placement in his Clinical Masters of Psychology before registration.

Greg approaches therapy through a curious, compassionate, and person-centered lens. Using theoretical underpinnings from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, and Parts Work, Greg works collaboratively with his clients towards growing awareness and insight as to the impact of habitual thinking patterns and behaviours on the individual's experience.

Greg couples both serious and playful elements within the therapeutic space and has welcomed good therapy outcomes working with people experience anxiety and depression. 
Greg strives to cultivate a non-judgmental and respectful environment that invites all parts of the individual to say hello, feel safe, and be gently explored.

Greg enjoys working across the lifespan and works with anxiety, depression, phobias, addiction and trauma. Cognitive assessments are welcomed too.

Sally is a Provisional Psychologist joining us with a background as a performance| wellbeing and Life Coach. Sally practices with clients across the lifespan, from age 16yrs and above.​

Sally uses an evidence-based approach, drawing on a variety of therapeutic modalities to support her clients in discovering and shifting unhelpful thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviours causing problems in different areas of life. These include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion, as well as Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused interventions drawn from coaching and positive psychology.

Sally works collaboratively with her clients to develop treatment plans across a range of presentations, including: â€‹Anxiety and mood disorders, Emotional dysregulation, Grief and loss, Stress and burnout, Life transition | adjustment issues, Relationship difficulties, Challenges with chronic pain | illness, Academic and work performance, Self-criticism | perfectionism | Self-esteem, Sleep difficulties, and Personal growth (finding meaning and purpose).

Sally holds a Master of Professional Psychology, Master of Science in Coaching Psychology, Postgraduate and Graduate Diplomas in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Health Science / Chinese Medicine. She has completed trainings in mindfulness approaches, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Cultivating Emotional Balance.

 Practicing as a psychologist since 1989, Tim has a broad range of experience in trauma, addictions, chronic health conditions and the complexities of marital and family life. Provisional and Trainee Clinicians 

At Surf Coast Mind Body Health we are proud to offer provisional and trainee clinicians a space where they can complete their training and develop their clinical skills to support the mental health and wellbeing of their clients while becoming fully qualified and registered clinicians with their relevant governing bodies.

All provisional and trainee clinicians are provided clinical supervision and are fully supported by our senior clinicians on site.
